The new Speaker of the Plateau State House Of Assembly has been presented to Governor Simon Lalong.
Yakubu Sanda, a member representing the Pengana Constituency who emerged under controversial circumstances, replaces Nuhu Abok.
Assembly members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, had in the early hours of Thursday staged an impeachment that removed Nuhu Abok, who in recent times has come under heavy pressure from the executive.
Presenting the new speaker to the governor, the Majority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly said, due process was followed.
Responding on behalf of the state government, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, said they will always support an autonomous assembly and work with any leader.

The Majority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly, while addressing pressmen after the presentation, said that the impeachment of the Nuhu Abok was constitutional.
With the members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the house crying foul, the last is yet to be heard on the matter.
