A new sense of hope is rising in Zamfara State as the newly appointed Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Warah Idris, has pledged total commitment to restoring peace across the region.

He told Governor Dauda Lawal that he was not in Zamfara to merely reduce banditry but to completely wipe out insurgency in the area.
He revealed that his new operational concept will focus on efficiency and deeper community engagement, noting that many insurgents either live within local communities or maintain strong alliances there; an issue he says must be tackled head-on.
He also explained that this reality makes Zamfara a top priority in his strategic plan for the coming weeks as the military intensifies efforts to dismantle terrorist networks.
Governor Dauda Lawal in his response described him as a “son of the soil” whose understanding of the terrain will greatly enhance the fight against banditry.
The Governor promised full support for the military’s mission, reaffirming that his administration’s stance not to negotiate with bandits.
With this renewed partnership between the Zamfara State Government and Operation FANSAN YAMMA, expectations are high that the seven states under the theatre command may soon witness a significant turn around in the battle to end insurgency.
