The umbrella body of State Governors, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has clarified that it will not dabble into political issues in the country which may alienate members with varying political interests.
Director-General of the forum Abdultateef Shittu who signed a statement issued on behalf of the forum said taking positions on contentious partisan issues would mean a poor sense of history, just a few years after the forum survived a fundamental division following political differences among its members.

Shittu noted that the forum will continue to take position on governance and general policy matters of profound consequences such as wages, taxes and universal healthcare among others.
The Nigeria Governors’ forum has been under pressure to meddle into the ongoing discourse over last Tuesday’s proclamation of State of Emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
