The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi has raised concerns over the deplorable condition of the East-West Road, stressing that States in the region might be cut off from the rest of the country if nothing is done in the next thirty days.
Speaking during a visit to the Bayelsa state Governor, Douye Diri, Tuesday in Government House, Yenagoa, Umahi Commended the Governor for his developmental strides, particularly in the area of road construction.
The Minister of Works was in Bayelsa State on a fact-finding visit to states in the Niger Delta region to inspect federal projects embarked upon by the ministry.
While on a visit to Governor Douye Diri who was represented by his Deputy Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Umahi expressed concerns over the deplorable situation of roads in the Niger Delta region, specifically the East-West road project which has lingered for decades.

He stated the willingness of President Bola Tinubu’s government to deliver concrete road infrastructure in the region.
Governor Douye Diri, speaking through his deputy, commended the minister for the visit and expressed displeasure that Bayelsa had been shortchanged in the distribution of federal projects
The minister, who earlier visited ongoing construction sites, assured that he would be returning to the state soonest to commission some completed projects.
