The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Abdullahi Baba-Arah has confirmed the gas explosion at the Sabon Wuse area of Tafa local government area of the state.
Baba-Arah, in a statement issued by the Agency’s spokesman, Hussaini Abdullahi, said that the incident, which occurred at about 11:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, was a result of transloading a cooking gas from a gas trailer tanker to a surface tank when it exploded and burst into flames.

Similarly, a grains processing factory behind the gas plant was also gutted by fire with about 550 bags of beans and six bags of soya beans burnt.

The statement added that the gas plant belonged to one Tasiu Gas Plant, beside Kalasma Filling Station, Sabon Wuse, along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

Both the trailer and the gas plant were completely burnt along with a car belonging to one Abubakar Yakubu parked by the side.
As at the time of filing this report, no life was lost, and the fire had been put under control.
