Niger State Government has called on bandits and cattle rustlers to embrace the Peace And Reconciliation Initiative of the government.
The Secretary to the State Government, Ahmad Matane, made the appeal while addressing bandits and their commanders in Dutsen Magaji, in Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
Matane said the Initiative is part of efforts to address the security challenges that have bedeviled the state over the years.
The Secretary to the State Government appealed to the commanders to secure the release of the abducted passengers of Niger State Transport Authority.
He stressed that the state government will continue to ensure the security of lives and property.

The renowned Kaduna based Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, expressed optimism that dialoguing with the bandits will assist in addressing the current security challenges in the state and the country.
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi reminded the bandits that Islam is against taking the lives of people.
He appealed to them to embrace peace, by laying down their arms.
