Police authorities in Niger State have confirmed the terrorist attack on 4 communities in the Borgu local government area, which left no fewer than 30 persons dead and scores abducted.
Spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, while confirming the incident, said that several houses were set ablaze by the assailants, including a police station.

According to him, the incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m on Saturday when the terrorists invaded Tunga-Makeri village through Shafachi District in the Borgu local government area.
The terrorists were said to have later moved to other communities identified as Tungan Makeri and Nkpaso villages, both in Konkoso Ward of Borgu local government area, in the early hours of Saturday, killing no fewer than 20 people.

It was gathered that the terrorists also set the police station in Pissa ablaze, but later escaped into the forest upon hearing the sound of the helicopter, which was apparently moving towards their direction.
As a result of the attack, Abiodun said a joint security team has been mobilised to the affected communities for on-the-spot assessment, while efforts to rescue the abducted victims and restore normalcy are ongoing.
