The Plenary of the Niger State House of Assembly went rowdy over a proposed bill to establish a State Character Commission.
The bill was sponsored by the member repesenting Bosso Constituency, Maliki Madaki.
He said the bill if assented to, will assist in correcting the alleged lopsidedness in political appointments in the state.
The debate on the bill, which was in its second reading, had suffered a setback since the seventh and eighth assemblies when it was passed into law but was not assented to by the executive.
Some of the members were confident that the issue could be corrected without having to establish a commission.
Of the15 members present at the plenary, nine proposed that the Secretary to the State Government should be invited to discuss and address the issue.
The move was rejected by the other six members who believed that establishing the Commission would go a long way in solving the problem once and for all.
