In response to persistent terrorist attacks on farming communities, residents of the Niger North Senatorial District convened a joint special prayer session in Kontagora, seeking divine intervention.
This is as 6 local government areas in the zone, Magama, Mariga, Rijau, Borgu, Kontagora, and Mashegu, have been subjected to frequent attacks, resulting in the displacement of dozens, particularly women and children.

Hundreds of Muslim faithful were said to have assembled at the Eid Prayer ground, praying for protection against terrorists and seeking safeguarding for security operatives.
The initiative, which brings together both Muslim and Christian residents, aims to foster spiritual solidarity and communal resilience in the face of persistent terrorism, particularly in Zone C of the state.
While Muslim communities commenced their prayers earlier this week, Christian groups are expected to begin their own sessions this Sunday, scheduled to last for one month.
Addressing the congregation, the Village Head of Mariga, Idris Yahaya, emphasised the importance of unity and collective action, hence the need to pray collectively for one month.
Also speaking at the event, Ibrahim Wakala, the Secretary of Mariga Local Government, praised the efforts of security agencies and highlighted the complementary role of spiritual support.
It is gathered that residents fled their homes in Genu, Warari, Shambo, Sabon-Gari, Dukku, Tungan-Buni, and villages surrounding Rijau and Magajiya, with displaced persons forced to sleep on mountains or seek refuge in Kontagora.
This, as terrorists continue to raid shops, houses, and crops, and rustle grazing cattle, not sparing farms.
