Nigeria has accepted the global hosting rights for the 5th High-Level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance in 2026.
Accepting on behalf of the president, the Coordinating Minister of health and social welfare Prof Ali Pate noted that Nigeria’s National Action Plan on AMR, has mobilized human, animal, and environmental health sectors to work in synergy and is being recognized globally as a leader for Africa in the field.

The Minister made this known at the handover ceremony from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, which marks Africa’s first hosting rights of the global summit, at the 4th High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
The hosting right, according to the organizers is given in recognition of President Bola Tinubu’s health sector reforms.
