The Nigeria Aviation Hall of Fame will on September 4 induct 16 distinguished Nigerians in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the country’s aviation industry.
The event, organised by veteran Aviation Journalist and Industry Analyst, Wole Shadare, is expected to attract the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, Aviation regulators and other industry stakeholders.
Speaking on the initiative, Wole Shadare said the Hall of Fame is designed to recognise individuals who have made remarkable contributions to aviation while celebrating their legacies and inspiring future generations.
Shadare noted that the participation of key government officials, regulators and industry leaders underscores the importance of the initiative to the sector.
Co-Convener, Gboyega Adeoye, described Aviation as a major driver of national development, stressing that those who have contributed significantly to the sector deserve recognition during their lifetime.
He said this year’s theme, “The Next Generation of Aviation Leaders: Talent, Technology, and Global Competitiveness,” is aimed at encouraging the development of young Nigerians capable of competing effectively in the global aviation industry.
Adeoye added that the partnership with MMA2 will see a montage of the inductees displayed at the terminal, allowing their stories and achievements to inspire the millions of passengers who pass through the facility annually.
The Royal Father of the Day, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye, Oluyin of Iyin, who previously served meritoriously with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, described aviation as a unifying force for the nation.
He expressed hope that the Hall of Fame would promote hard work, patriotism, discipline and dedication among young Nigerians, while encouraging the honourees to remain role models.
The ceremony will feature goodwill messages, citations of the inductees, unveiling of the Hall of Fame plaque and a panel session on developing aviation talent and leveraging technology for global competitiveness.
Expected dignitaries include airline chief executives, heads of aviation agencies, captains of industry, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic corps.
