Nigeria and Canada have renewed pledges to expand cooperation in trade, renewable energy, technology, security, and education.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu disclosed this during a high -level talks with Canada’s Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai at Tafawa Balewa House in Abuja, according to a statement by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu described the visit as timely amid at Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms to attract foreign investment.

She highlighted opportunities in renewable energy, digital innovation, fintech, solid minerals, and the creative sector, and called for greater Canadian investment.
She also stressed the need for stronger collaboration on intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism, and regional security, noting that violent extremism continues to threaten stability and livelihoods.
Sarai commended Nigeria’s strategic role in Africa and the growing strength of Nigeria-Canada relations, citing the vibrant Nigerian diaspora in Canada. He reiterated Canada’s support for development initiatives in education, climate resilience, women’s empowerment, youth development, and sustainable economic cooperation.
Both sides discussed implementing existing agreements, including the Bilateral Air Services Agreement and the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, to boost trade and investment.
They reaffirmed commitments to sustain high-level engagements for mutual prosperity, regional stability, and sustainable development.
