Nigerian Air Force, NAF says it is working to effect the release of its aircraft and personnel detained by the Burkinabe Junta after its plane made “precautionary landing” at Bobo-Dioualasso.
NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame in a statement gave a background to the controversy.
The Airforce said the C-130 aircraft had taken off from Lagos on Monday, headed to Portugal for maintainance, but the crew observed a technical concern which necessitated a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, the nearest airfield, in accordance with standard safety procedures and international aviation protocols.
The statement added that the “crew is safe and receiving cordial treatment from the host authorities.”
