NIGERIA, CUBA FORGE STRONGER TIES WITH NEW BILATERAL AGREEMENT

Nigeria and Cuba have signed a memorandum of understanding (Mou) to strengthen the political ties between both nations.

The understanding was formalized during a high-level meeting in Abuja between Nigeria’s minister of foreign affairs Yusuf Tuggar and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

Nigeria and Cuba are members of the non-aligned movement (nam) and a group of 77 plus China. both countries share similar positions on numerous global issues, particularly on the advancement of global peace and security, new international order and sustainable development. the memorandum of understanding signed by both countries will further deepen the cordial relations between both countries while trade and investment, medical sector research and technology will also receive a boost

According to the minister of foreign affairs Yusuf Tuggar, the longstanding historical and cultural connections between the two nations hold a special place in Nigeria’s diplomatic history, citing historical interactions dating back to the colonial era.

Cuban foreign affairs minister Rodríguez Parrilla reaffirmed Cuba’s deep-rooted ties with Africa particularly Nigeria. he acknowledged the African heritage embedded in Cuban society and expressed appreciation for the contributions of African descendants to Cuba’s independence, economic development, and cultural identity

He Commended Nigeria For Its Stand On Global Issues Particularly Its Opposition On The Long Standing United States Embargo on Cuba
