Nigeria Customs Service

The Nigeria Customs Service has confiscated litres of smuggled Premium Motor Spirit, (PMS), worth one hundred and ninety-nine million Naira, in the Zone D axis, which comprises Adamawa and Taraba commands.

The Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adeniyi, who disclosed this at a press conference in Yola, also directed the auctioning of the product to Adamawa residents at six hundred and thirty Naira per litre, in line with the federal government’s policy.

Despite the federal government’s structured economic reforms, aimed at stabilising the energy sector, unpatriotic individuals persist on undermining the efforts, through illicit smuggling operations.

The Comptroller General of the service Bashir Adeniyi, said the products were allegedly on the verge of being smuggled into Cameroon from Nigeria, before they were intercepted.

The intercepted items include, four fuel tankers carrying 97,000 litres and 1,363 Jerry cans of 25 litres each.

Other interceptions include fuel tankers attempting concealment at unauthorised dispensing points, used as smuggling reservoirs.

The Comptroller General, Bashir Adeniyi, practically spearheaded the auctioning of the seized product to Adamawa residents, at six hundred and thirty Naira per litre.

The host Comptroller in charge of Adamawa and Taraba Command, Garba Bature, had in an opening remark, mentioned that the Nigeria Customs Service remains resolute, on its mandate to protect the national economy.
