The Nigerian Customs Area Comptroller for Ogun II Area Command, Compt. Olusola Bisi Alade has identified poor infrastructure and the state of the nation’s economy as a major challenge affecting their revenue generation.

Alade who disclosed this on Tuesday during a press conference at the Command’s headquarters in Abeokuta said over Four billion Naira was generated within September and October, 2023 which according to him, would have been more if adequate infrastructure was in place for a friendly business environment.

The total revenue of N4,627,054,our billion, six 451.69 generated in the months of September and October, 2023 represents a 24.8% higher than same period in last year’s income record.

Alade said the generated revenue would have been more if good infrastructure such as electricity, roads, security, among others were in place to allow for the ease of doing business by manufacturers

The Customs Area Comptroller, Ogun II Area Command, however encouraged manufacturers to share their challenges with the Nigerian Customs Service and to also pay their taxes.

Alade told Newsmen that four factories within the Command’s jurisdiction that were evading inspection and taxation, were also discovered within the period under review.
