The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service Bashir Adekunle Adeniyi says the Agency is expanding its role beyond border security and revenue collection by reaching out to communities in need.
Speaking at this year’s annual medical corps retreat, the Comptroller General says the humanitarian initiative tagged “customs cares” is being strengthened to offer greater support to vulnerable populations, with particular focus on health care and education.
It’s the 2025 annual medical corp retreat of the Nigeria customs service, with the theme the medical corp in the Nigeria customs service past, present and future. The Retreat brought together senior medical personnel from across the country.
The Comptroller General emphasized that his primary focus is on health care, including medical assistance, outreach services and the vision to support less privileged communities.
The four day medical outreach was rounded off in modakeke with Ethelbert Nnaji, who led the team acknowledging the growing commitment of Customs to humanitarian service through healthcare.
The outreach according to the customs is in continuation of the Customs Cares initiative launched two months ago which targets improved education, food security, agriculture, youth empowerment and skill acquisition.
