In a bid to strengthen community ties and support educational initiatives, the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Victory, has donated educational materials to secondary schools in Bakassi local government area of Cross River State.
This initiative reflects the Navy’s commitment not only to maritime security but also to nurture positive partnership with the community it serves.
During the presentation ceremony, Commodore Rotimi Oderemi, Commander of NNS Victory, underscored the pivotal role of education in the region, emphasizing that beyond their security mandate, the Navy places a high value on the educational well-being of Bakassi’s students.

Leaders of the community including Inyang Okon, Head of Local Government Administration, and former Council Chairman Iyadim Iyadim, praised the Navy’s initiative, acknowledging the historical challenges faced by the community, including displacement due to border issues with Cameroon.
They expressed gratitude for the timely support and urged continued collaboration to address ongoing community needs.
In addition to the educational materials, students received valuable insights into the dangers of drug abuse as part of the Navy’s holistic approach to community engagement.
They were encouraged to embrace positive choices for their future well-being.
