Nigeria’s Super Eagles are on the verge of clinching a ticket to the 2025 AFCON after the Confederation of African Football awarded three points and three goals to Nigeria against the Libyan federation for breaching it’s rules.
In a ruling made public via the CAF Online platform, the continent’s football ruling body said the Libyan Federation was guilty of breeching its regulations in the build up to the botched Match Day 4 Qualifying fixture between hosts the Mediterranean Knights and the visiting Super Eagles of Nigeria.
CAF disciplinary committee ruled that the Libyan federation breached article 31 of the African Nations Cup regulations and articles 82 and 151 of the CAF disciplinary code.

In addition to the punishment of having the game declared as a loss for Libya by three points and three goals in Nigeria’s favour, the Libyan Federation is also to pay a fine of 50,000 US Dollars.
The ruling means that the Super Eagles who now top their group more comfortably with 10 points from 4 games played, need only a point in their remaining fixtures to qualify for the Morocco 2025 AFCON.
Nigeria will round-off the Qualifying campaign with two more games- first away to Benin Republic on November 14 before facing Rwanda at home in Uyo 4 days later
