Nigeria and Poland have agreed to expand cooperation in digital innovation, cybersecurity, trade and maritime security.
The pledge followed a meeting on Thursday between Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy Krzysztof Gawkowski in Abuja, according to a statement by Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa.
Both countries will explore new partnerships in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, agriculture, defence, infrastructure, education, culture and tourism.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu reaffirmed Nigeria-Poland relations, which began on 30 May 1962, and commended Poland’s recent peaceful presidential election.
She outlined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms to improve ease of doing business and attract foreign investment, urging Polish firms to expand operations in Nigeria. She also thanked Poland for supporting Nigerian students affected by the conflict in Ukraine, describing education as a “vital pillar” of bilateral ties.
