Nigeria Security: Pres. Buhari Applauds His Administration For Curbing Terrorism

President Muhammadu Buhari says the security situation in the country has improved tremendously compared to what it is in 2015 when his administration came into office.

The president said the administration has also achieved remarkable transformation of the military in areas of man power, training, operations, fighting power amongst others.

He said this while speaking at the 2023 Nigerian army trooping and presentation of colours parade

After Sixteen years , the Nigerian army is once again presenting the national and regimental colours

The Trooping and Presentation of the Colours Parade is an aged long tradition of the Nigerian Army dating back to 1863 when the company designated for Nigeria moved from Ghana to Nigeria with their company flag and on arrival the British monarch awarded colours to each battalion of the regiments, this ceremony has continued till date.

The president who Arrived at the venue adorned in military ceremonial dress kick started the ceremony with the inspection of the parade

According to military tradition, the Colours are conferred on units in recognition of their achievement in combat, training and service to the society.

Various units took position for The retirement of the old colours,
53 colours are due for retirement which was Followed by a final compliment in a slow March, signaling a farewell

Next was the parade of the new national and regimental colours including 28 colours were presented to new army units with a total of 81 units participating in the parade.
The colours were then consecrated by heads of religious bodies after which they were presented to the various formations by the president

President Buhari thanked the military and other security forces for their commitment in protecting the country.

A number of the new units that have just been presented with regimental colours where established to tackle the emerging security challenges.
