Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant -General Olufemi Oluyede

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant -General Olufemi Oluyede, has acknowledged that while there have been significant improvements in the country’s security situation, the country is still not where it ought to be.

He made this statement during the special Christmas lunch organided for troops of Sector 5, Operation Fasar-Yamma, held in Kachia, Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria.

The special lunch was a gesture of appreciation for the troops who have been on the frontlines, often far from their loved ones during the festive season.

The event was also aimed at fostering camaraderie among the troops and strengthening civil-military cooperation in addressing security challenges within the 1 Division’s area of responsibility.

Delivering the Chief of Army Staff’s message, Major-General Mayirenso Saraso commended the troops for their dedication and their efforts in stabilising the 1 Division area.

He emphasised that although there have been notable improvements in the security landscape over the past year, more needs to be done to achieve the desired level of stability.

The Army assured that it remains committed to intensifying its efforts to enhance security, not only within the 1 Division area of responsibility but across the country, as it looks forward to making greater strides in the coming year.
