The Nigerian government has started meetings with key players in the Education sector in a bid to meet the new academic session deadline in September
Minister of state for education, Yusuf Sununu at the latest meeting in Abuja, said the last review of the basic education curriculum was twelve years ago and there is urgent need to rejig the document as the huge advancement in technology has made the current curriculum moribund.
Sumunu decried a situation where one out of every five children out of school is a Nigerian.

In a bold attempt to arrest the trend, the government is inculcating skills development into basic education curriculum, from primary school, starting in September 2024.
Some key stakeholders in the development of the new basic education curriculum say Nigeria must measure up to global advances in knowledge acquisition in both formal and informal education settings
