Nigeria and China are set for an enhanced relations that will promote strategic partnership, aimed at building a shared future.
Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Du Dunhai said this development was formalised during the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, FOCAC held in Beijing from September 4 to 6, 2024.
FOCAC has been the primary tool for bilateral engagement between China and individual African countries on matters of economy, healthcare, peace and security, education, and culture since its inaugural session in 2000.

Each summit has been an opportunity for China to outline its Africa programmes for the succeeding three years. Ambassador Yu Dunhai says the summit was built on two key documents.
Though the relationship between Abuja and Beijing has been cordial and productive, the Chinese envoy believes the best is yet to come from the alliance with the export of peanuts from Nigeria set to begin soon.
Chinese direct investment in Africa has moved from less than $500 million to over $40 billion. Capital projects have flourished, with nearly 100,000 kilometres of highways and more than 10,000 kilometres of railways line among others.
