Nigeria and the Kingdom of Spain have agreed to strengthen their bilateral relations to tackle the Boko Haram menace in Nigeria
The agreement will also deal with all forms of Insecurity including the wobbly maritime sector especially in the Gulf of Guinea.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama made this known when he hosted his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Albares Bueno in Abuja on thursday.


According to Onyeama the cooperation will help in addressing insurgency and terrorism in the Sahel and by extension, the African region.
The Minister added that President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent visit to Spain highlighted the importance of the highest level the two countries attached to the bilateral relations even as the Nigerian leader engaged the King of Spain on issues of mutual benefits.

The Spanish Minister in his remarks said Nigeria is one of the great regional actors, the biggest economy in Africa and an absolute pillar of ECOWAS and Sub Saharan Africa.
He said his visit will give a new impetus to the relations that already exists between the two countries and by extension the African continent.
The Spanish Minister also said both countries have excellent cooperation in maritime security, adding that Spanish fleet play important roles in the fight against maritime insecurity in the Gulf of Guinea since 2015.
A posthumous award was given to the late Nigerian Ambassador to Spain Ademola Seriki which was received by his wife Wosilat Seriki and his son Wale Demola- Seriki
