The Federal Government has sent a note of warning to Ghanaian authorities that it will no longer tolerate any acts of harassment and hostility against Nigerian citizens in Ghana.
In a statement released by the Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed; the Nigerian Government said it is considering a number of options to address the situation and has documented evidence of acts of hostilities by the Ghanian authorities including seizures and demolition of Nigerian mission properties, the deportation of Nigerians from Ghana as well as outrageous residency fees imposed on Nigerian citizens among many other acts of intimidation.
The Federal Government noted that with over one million Ghanaian citizens resident in the country, non has been subjected to the kind of hostility being meted out to Nigerians in Ghana as it has continued to respect the long cordial relations between both countries.
It however expressed concern that it seems Ghana is beginning to take its friendly disposition for granted.
