The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Thursday, sentenced Nigerian Actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, to six months imprisonment for spraying and stepping on the new Naira notes at an event in Lagos.
Omoseyin who was arraigned on the 13th of February, 2023 on a two count charge had pleaded not guilty to the charges which the prosecution said contravened Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007.

The defendant according to a statement posted on the ‘X’ handle of the EFCC had changed her not guilty plea to guilty at the resumed hearing of the case on Thursday.
In his judgement, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, sentenced the actress to six months imprisonment with an option of three hundred thousand Naira fine, to be paid into the Consolidated Revenue Account of the Federation.
Omoseyin was arrested by operatives of the ICPC on the 1st of February, 2023 after the video of her spraying and stepping on the redesigned Naira notes went viral on the social media.
