Nigerian Air Force, Navy promote 198 senior officers

The Nigerian Air Force Council has approved the promotion of 19 Air Vice Marshals and 33 Air Commodores.

A statement by the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali says the announcement follows the Council’s recent meeting, reflecting its commitment to rewarding excellence, dedication, and outstanding service within the NAF.

He adds that the newly promoted senior officers have demonstrated exceptional leadership, professional competence, and dedication to duty in various operational and administrative roles. Their elevation therefore underscores NAF’s ongoing drive to strengthen its command structure and operational readiness

Those elevated from the rank of Air Commodore to Air Vice Marshal includes the current Director of Public Relations and Information, Olusola Akinboyewa.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has congratulated the promoted officers and urged them to see their new ranks as a call to greater service and responsibility. He reaffirmed the Air Council’s resolve to recognise hard work, professionalism, and loyalty in advancing NAF’s mission to defend the country’s territorial integrity.

Similarly, the Nigerian Navy Board has approved the promotion of 146 senior officers to various ranks in the Service.

Breakdown of the promotions released showed that 24 Commodores were promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, 26 Captains were elevated to the rank of Commodore while 96 Commanders were promoted to the rank of Captain.

A statement by the Navy spokesperson, Commodore Adams Aliu says the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla on behalf of officers, ratings and civilian staff of the Nigerian Navy, congratulates the newly promoted senior officers and their families.

Vice Admiral Ogalla charged them to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities and remain loyal to the country and the
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu.
