The Nigerian Ambassador to Sudan, Safiu Olaniyan has been explaining the role of his Embassy officials in the ongoing evacuation of stranded Nigerians especially students as the exercise is not entirely dependent on them.
He says the Embassy in Khartoum waits for clearance from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development and the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA in Nigeria and then the Governments of Sudan and Egypt, to move the buses conveying evacuees across the border.

The Envoy gave the update while reacting to complaints and allegations leveled against the Embassy. Olaniyan, in a voice message sent through the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, stated that a security clearance is what is needed for those at the border of Sudan to cross into Egypt.

He also clarified that the Embassy was not in charge of hiring buses to convey evacuees out of Sudan and pleaded with those aggrieved to rethink the alleged plan to attack Embassy officials.
The Ambassador assured parents and students that the Embassy officials are fully on the ground in Khartoum, and as such, they share in the challenges from the war with all Nigerians affected.
