The Commander, Headquarters 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin, Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, says troops of the Brigade have successfully restored calm in communities previously affected by insecurity across Kwara State.
Brigadier General Rume disclosed this at the 2025 Nigerian Army Social Activities, popularly known as WASA, held in Ilorin the State capital. He described the return of displaced residents to their homes as the Army’s most significant achievement in the state during the year under review, despite what he noted was a turbulent 2025 for both civilians and the military.

According to the Brigade Commander, residents of Babanla community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, who had earlier fled their homes due to fear of attacks, have now returned following sustained military clearance operations. He assured that troops of the Brigade remain committed to eliminating banditry and other criminal activities within and around Kwara State.
Speaking on the importance of the Nigerian Army Social Activities, Brigadier General Rume explained that the event provides an opportunity to review operational successes, boost morale, and enable officers, soldiers, and their families relax and re-strategize for the year ahead.
The event featured colourful cultural performances from various ethnic groups, showcasing Nigeria’s unity in diversity and reinforcing the message of peaceful coexistence.
