Nigerian artists make MTV Video Music Awards nomination list

The organizers of the annual MTV Video Music Awards have unveiled the nominees for the 2023 edition of the ceremony scheduled for September 12th; in Newark, New Jersey, United States.


Leading this year’s nominations is American singer songwriter Taylor Swift with eight nods, SZA followed with six nominations while U.S rapper Doja Cat alongside Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith were nominated in five categories.These artistes are to slug it out in the Video of the Year category.

Nigeria’s multi award winning stars Rema,Wizkid, BurnaBoy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, Musa Keys, Fireboy DML and Libianca also made the MTV MVA nomination list.


The “Calm Down”, “Holiday” singer Rema was nominated in the Best Collaboration, Song Of The Year and Best Afrobeats Song categories.


The “Sability”, “RUSH” hit maker Ayra Starr followed with two nods in Best Afrobeats Song category.
BurnaBoy, Davido, Musa Keys, Wizkid, Fireboy DML, Asake and Libianca got nominated in the Best Afrobeats Song category.
