An electric car has been produced in Imo state by a team from the mechanical engineering department Federal Polytechnic, Nekede in Owerri.
The invention of the fossil free car was made possible through several research.

The car which took the team six months to produce is essentially powered by a solar panel with 90% local content materials.
Rector of the institution, Engineer Michael Arimanwa commended the team, explaining that the innovation could not have been a reality without the assistance of TETFUND.
Leader of the team that invented the car, Pius Nwosu and others described the breakthrough as solution to the dangerous emissions emanating from fuel powered vehicles.
They also spoke about the challenges encountered during the process. Countries around the world are phasing out fuel powered vehicles and are replacing them with cleaner energy sources.
The next level of mass production will require federal government’s intervention.
