Nigerian lawyers have been called upon to embrace emerging technology for enhanced efficiency and productivity in the legal profession.
The call was made by a legal practitioner and politician, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi during a workshop for lawyers organised by Liberty Semper Fidelis (LSF), in Abuja, with the theme, “Transforming the Legal Future of Law Practice.”
He explained that the idea is to develop the concept of Technology Law as an instrument for opening a new frontier in legal practice and make it more relevant and useful to the development of the economy.
Technology law is said to be primarily concerned with building the framework for the collection, storage, dissemination, and use of information in the digital space.
The 3-day workshop is to make Nigerians understand the Nigerian technology law landscape and appreciate the import of innovations like Artificial Intelligence (AI) in law and Justice.
