A 28-year old Nigerian man, Toyosi Bakare, who relocated to the United States about three years ago has been shot dead in Joliet, a town 72 kilometers from Chicago.
Police said the suspected assailant who shot dead seven other persons, killed himself while on the run in a town in Texas, after being hunted by law enforcement officers, including US Marshals.
The lone assailant, identified as 23-year old, Romeo Nance, is believed by the Police to have been known to all the victims, even as the motive for the killing spree is yet to be determined.
A statement by Police in the county of Natalie, Texas reads, “It is believed that Nance took his own life with a handgun following a confrontation with Texas law enforcement officials.”
The Police in Joliet located in the State of Illinois said the incident remains an active investigation.
