The Nigeria Navy Ship Luguard has arrested a suspect identified as Aliyu Lawal and intercepted 620 tonnes of cannabis sativa, popularly called Indian hemp pin Kogi State.
The Commander, Nigeria Navy Ship Luguard, Commodore Moses Epelle, said during a media briefing in lokoja that the interception of the illicit drugs and the arrest of the suspect was effected by Naval personnel on duty at a check point in Banda, Kogi State
While parading the suspect in Lokoja, the Commander, Nigeria Navy Ship Luguard, Commodore Moses Epelle, said the suspect was arrested on 4th April 2024 at a Navy check point in Banda, Kogi State while transporting the illicit drugs from Edo State to Abuja en-route Lokoja.

Commodore Moses Epelle therefore advised Nigerians to desist from illegal ways of earning their living but engage in genuine ventures that will help to grow the country’s economy.
Receiving the seized substance from the Nigeria Navy Ship Luguard, the superintendent of nacotics at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) Kogi State Command, Olorunfemi Abolarin said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
The 620 seized cannabis sativa is weighing 110 kilograms.
