The Nigerian Navy has assured coastal communities within its operational domain that it will do everything possible to ensure that its fleet do not cause any form of marine pollution.
Flag officer commanding Nigerian Navy logistics command, Rear Admiral, O M Olotu, made this known during an inspection visit to some facilities at Koko, in Warri north local government area of Delta state.
The recent acquisition of an additional war ship by the Nigerian Navy has no doubt demonstrated its commitment to enhance the country’s maritime security.
Apart from protecting the nation’s waterways, the Navy says it will also pay attention to issues of marine pollution which were usually caused by their fleet.
While inspecting some facilities at Koko north local government area of Delta state, the Navy boss who appears to be impressed, assured riverside communities under his domain that the environment will be adequately protected.
