No fewer than thirty eight vessels operating illegally have been impounded by the Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy in the last twenty four months.
The outgoing Flag Officer Commanding the ENC, Rear Admiral David Adeniran made this known during a valedictory speech to mark his retirement at the NNS Victory parade ground in Calabar.
Adeniran said the Command, has also neutralized two hundred and eighty-one illegal refineries, arrested seven hundred and seven suspects, as well as dismantled two hundred and twenty five wooden boats.

The Outgoing FOC said the boats patrolling the creeks and shallow waters recorded over one hundred percent on the average rating, while the capital ship patrol recorded over eighty percent patrol on the high sea which has recorded major boost against sea robbers within the year under review.
Adeniran also said the command participated in several joint military operations in synergy with other security agencies within the command’s area of responsibility.
