Nigerian athlete in the ongoing Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, Bose Omolayo has set a new Paralympic record of 141 kilogrammes in Women’s 79-kilogramme category to win Gold.
Nigerian Para Powerlifter, Bose Omolayo has a new Paralympics record in the women’s 79kg weight class after she lifted 141kg to win Gold.

Omolayo lifted 135kg in her first lift and equalled the Paralympics Record, PR with her second after lifting up to 138kg. She returned for her third lift to break the PR and set a new record of 141kg.
She beat Ukraine’s Oliinyk Natalia and Russia Paralympics Committee RPC’s Muratova Vera to second and third places.
Omolayo joins Latifat Tijani to increase Nigeria’s Gold haul to two at the ongoing 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, adding to the two bronze medals won by Team Nigeria’s captain, Lucy Ejike and Olaitan Ibrahim.
Nigeria is currently 24th on the medals table as of the time of this report.
