A media release of the Nigerian Army indicate that Troops of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Battalion 7, working with the 8 Division Strike Team under the Joint Task Force North West Operation, FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded a major success against terrorists in Kadam Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, the operation followed credible intelligence that over 100 terrorists linked to the Lakurawa group had gathered in the forest to plan attacks and kidnappings on nearby communities.
Troops swiftly mobilised and engaged the terrorists at about 12 noon local time, leading to a fierce gun battle.

When the terrorists attempted a rear-flanking manoeuvre, soldiers responded with superior firepower and maintained control of the battlefield.
During the operation, three terrorists were confirmed killed, while several others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
Security forces also recovered one PKT machine gun, two AK-47 rifles, 350 rounds of PKT ammunition, 111 rounds of 7.62 special ammunition, three magazines, two radios, three motorcycles, and a mobile phone.
The Army said follow-up operations are ongoing to track fleeing terrorists and recover additional weapons, adding that Troops morale remains high as efforts continue to dismantle terrorist networks in the North West areas of Nigeria.
