The former Vice President added that Democracy without commitment to principles of fairness and fidelity to the rules in the processes of conducting election still leaves the people exposed to tendencies of dictatorship.

In his words “Democracy and the process of Democratisation is a constant work in progress. While what we celebrate today is a return to civil rule in Nigeria, the desire to make our Democracy self-sustaining and independent of anti-democratic elements is the new frontier of participation by all Democrats as it requires collective energy and committement to attain civil rule and advance Democracy and Democratisation process”

Atiku Abubakar explained that to achieve this noble goal, the country’s commitment to Democracy must be enternal while urging lovers of Democracy in Nigeria to do more to defeat anti-democratic forces.
