D’Tigress of Nigeria, have qualified for the FIBA women’s world cup from September 22nd to October 1st, in Australia.
To qualify, D’Tigress won two of their three matches at the qualification tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.
After going down in their first match against China, they bounced back against the world number 5 nation, France, before sending Mali packing in their 3rd match this Sunday.
In their usual style, D’Tigress were the chasing pack in their match against Mali. They trailed by two points at the end of the first quarter 20-22.

They however got the job done in the 2nd and 3rd quarter amassing 64 points as against Mali’s 44, going into the fourth quarter and allowing the African sisters to grab the 4th quarter 25-9 as D’Tigress took their foot off the pedal.
Nigeria’s Amy Okonkwo got a team and game high 14 points, same with Sika Kone of mali.
Host Australia, current Olympic champion the United States of America and eight other nations also booked their world Cup tickets.
