The re-elected Governor of Bayelsa state, Senator Douye Diri is canvassing for another legislation to check the menace of vote-buying plaguing the country’s electoral process, this is even as penalties for this is spelt out in the Electoral Act, 2022

Governor Diri was speaking when the former Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, and stakeholders from Bayelsa West visited him at his country home in Sampou to congratulate him on his reelection during last Saturday’s poll

The Bayelsa state governorship election has come and gone but the Peoples Democratic Party PDP supporters are still basking in the pleasurable moment that saw the Governor’s re-election.

Former Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, and key actors from Bayelsa West senatorial district, including traditional rulers were at the country home of the Governor to rejoice and congratulate him for his victory at the poll.

The reelected Governor thanked the people of the state for believing and standing by him to defend the nation’s hard earned democracy.

The 64-year-old and former federal lawmaker also made a case against vote-buying

Governor Diri’s re-election will officially commence next year on February 14 when he will be sworn-in.
