Former Super Eagles of Nigeria winger, Ahmed Musa, has officially announced his retirement from international football, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable 15-year career with the Nigerian national team.

Ahmed Musa, who represented Nigeria at various youth levels, made his senior debut for the Super Eagles in 2010.

He went on to become a key figure in the national team, playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations victory in South Africa under the late coach, Stephen Keshi.

The former CSKA Moscow forward confirmed his decision on Wednesday via his official social media platforms, reflecting on his long and dedicated service to the nation.

In the statement, Musa wrote:
“I wore this badge with pride for 15 years. From a 17-year-old boy answering every call to becoming the most capped Super eyagle with 111 appearances. AFCON champion. Nigeria’s highest World Cup goalscorer. Captain. Servant. Believer. I gave everything. Thank you Nigeria… my heart will always beat Green.”

During his International career, Musa earned a record 111 caps, scoring 16 goals for the Super Eagles. He captained the team on several occasions and remains Nigeria’s highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history.
