Nigeria’s first private Radio Station Raypower FM celebrates 27th anniversary

Founder of Daar Communications PLC, Engineer Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi has called on Nigerian journalists to stand up for the rights of the ordinary people by creating a platform where their voices can be heard.

Dokpesi in a telephone chat Wednesday during the 27th anniversary of nigeria’s first private radio station, Eaypower fm, held at the alagbado station called on members of the forth estate of the realm not to cut corners in the discharge of their responsibilities to members of the public.

In a letter by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ addressed to the Managing Director, Radio Services of DAAR Communications PLC, Dr. Olutayo Somide, the Company’s Chapel of the professional body joined millions of Nigerians to celebrate the country’s premier private independent Radio Station, Raypower FM.

The letter signed by the Assistant Secretary, OSARO EKHATOR reads in parts that “On behalf of the Executive and Members, the Chairman, NUJ DAAR HQ joyfully felicitates with the Founder, Board, Management and Staff of DAAR Communications Plc as Raypower FM clocks 27”

The Union says through the years Raypower FM has kept up with the vision of the Founder to trail the blaze in educative, informative and entertaining programmes, weathering the storm with the dogged tenacity.

Meanwhile, it was a scintillating atmosphere at the Daar Communications PLC premises in Lagos state on Wednesday as staff of ait and Raypower FM locked horns in a novelty match to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Nigeria’s first private radio station, Raypower FM.

The novelty match ended in favour of Raypower FM as both management and staff beat their ait counterparts by 1-0 and 4-2 in the fun-packed encounter which witnessed a lot of drama.

Dr. Somide says the station will continue to use its medium to promote sports development in the country.
