Also at the meeting are; the Acting National Chairman, Illiya Damagum; National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; BOT Secretary, Ahmed Makarfi, among other top party leaders.

In his welcome address, the Acting National Chairman of the party, Illiya Damagum said the decision that the NEC meeting should take place was pivotal for the scheduled National convention to hold later in the year. Makarfi in his own speech noted that the upcoming National Convention of the party will define the landscape of the party and PARTY Nigerian politics going into the 2027 general elections.

He appealed to the members to be mindful of their remarks and them “solution compliant”.

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed promised the continued support of the PDP Governors’ Forum towards a successful Convention. He however urged the party not to turn a blind eye on indiscipline in the
Party.

According to the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, indiscipline within the party was responsible for the current fate that has befallen the once ruling party in Nigeria.

The PDP NEC meeting is currently in a closed door session.
