The debt management office says nigeria’s total public debt rose to ₦152.40 trillion as at june 30, 2025, from ₦149.39 trillion in march, representing a ₦3.01 trillion or 2.01% increase.
The agency said that in dollar terms, the debt climbed from $97.24 billion to $99.66 billion, reflecting a 2.49% rise.
According to it, external debt stood at $46.98 billion (₦71.85 trillion), with multilateral lenders accounting for nearly half, led by the world bank’s $18.04 billion exposure.

The agency explained that the Federal Government accounted for 92.6% of the total debt at ₦141.08 trillion, while states and the fct owed ₦11.32 trillion, including $4.81 billion in external obligations.
