Nigeria’s young changemaker, Babatunde Bale, wins Africa youth give contest

A Nigerian young change maker, Babatunde Bale, has been announced winner of the inaugural YouthGive Africa Contest, a storytelling initiative organised by the GivingTuesday Africa Hub with a cash prize of 1,500 dollars.

Bale, an innovative solution pioneer, driving spontaneous access to eye care and other health projects across major rural communities in west Africa sub-region, has in the last few years impacted over 12,000 lives and 400 suburbs including the Makoko community in Lagos, Nigeria.

1st runner-up Narau Kimani Laizer (tanzania)

The exercise also had Tanzania conservationist and educational advocate, Narau Kimani Laizer, as first runner-up with a prize gift of 1000 dollars. Narau story depicts resilience and courage, defying the cultural norm of early child marriage in parts of East Africa to promote girl-child empowerment and access to education.

The second runner-up is a Ugandan seasoned youth development professional, Nkuubi Dominic Savio, who through his programs has helped expand schools and communities, to drive development in East Africa. Savio, also received a cash prize of 500 dollars.

In a statement signed by the communications Manager of GivingTuesday, Bidemi Adedire, the contest which saw at least 500 entries from youths across countries in Africa, is a constant reminder of the boundless potential of youths in Africa.
