The Federal High Court Abuja, has dismissed the suit filed by leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu challenging his solitary confinement by the Department of State Services, DSS, as violation of his fundamental human rights.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo while delivering judgement stated that the suit lacked merit and was therefore dismissed.

Nnamdi Kanu had
through his lawyer, Maxwell Opara, filed a suit urging the court to direct the DSS to immediately remove him from solitary confinement and allow him access to a medical practitioner of his choice.

Kanu also wants the DSS to allow him access to facility and materials to practice his Jewish religion, stating that he has been deprived of all these in flagrant violation of his fundamental human rights.

But the DSS had denied the allegations on several occasions and insisted that Kanu has been provided with the best available medical facilities and allowed to practice his faith.

In his verdict on Friday, Justice Taiwo Taiwo dismissed the application because Kanu’s counsel, Opara could not sufficiently prove his allegations.
