A serving senator representing Anambra North senatorial district, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, on Monday sought the Federal High Court Abuja, for an order permitting him to visit the self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafran, IPOB Nnamdi Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Service, DSS.

Ubah sought order of the court following the alleged refusal of DSS authorities to allow him access to the detained Biafran leader.

In the motion, Ubah is praying for an order of court granting him leave to visit the defendant, Nnamdi Kanu, in DSS custody, as part of his oversight legislative function.

In an affidavit personally deposed to by Senator Uba, it was stated that there had been serious agitation aimed at pressing home his release and this had degenerated into proclamation of Sit-At-home orders in the South East, a situation which is crippling the economy of the South East.

No date has been fixed for determination of the motion.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has filed an amended 7-count charge against the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

The amended charge, was filed by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, bordering on treasonable felony and alleged involvement in acts of terrorism.
