The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has dismissed reports that it imports diesel, stating that it has no involvement in the importation of petroleum products.
In a WhatsApp message to ait.live Yemi Adebayo on Thursday, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Femi Soneye, also denied allegations of delayed refinery projects, describing the reports as “entirely inaccurate”.
This clarification comes as the Senate investigates the continued importation of hazardous petroleum products in Nigeria, which has raised concerns about safety and health impacts on citizens.

The NNPC’s denial may shed new light on the investigation, as the corporation’s role in importation and refining of petroleum products comes under scrutiny.
